Need Help to Raise Some Money?
Charities Information Bureau South & West, based in Devizes, is delighted to announce the launch of their new and improved website. Developed with funding from Sport England, the new website will extend a much valued funding advice service to cover the South West of England. The website www.cibsouthandwest.org.uk provides information to help people find much needed cash to carry out vital work. The information is free to individuals and many organisations in the South West region. It will be invaluable to voluntary and community groups, schools and colleges and to Parish, District & County Councils. There is also a link to a regular newsletter of regional funding news. Chief Executive Rosemary Hopgood is thrilled to be able to offer this service to a wider audience than was previously possible. “Last year we helped to raise an amazing £893,147 in Wiltshire, Swindon and Bath & North East Somerset alone. With around 200 people already using the funding databases, the impact we will be able to make helping people across the South West with their fundraising will be significant!” The website has already provided much needed funding information and advice for groups. Alan Miles from Phoenix Brass emailed us to say “We have had two successful applications for funding for projects we are involved in and will be searching for more”. We also recently received an email from Sarah James at the Wilton House Trust to say “Thanks so much for your email - I've spent the morning using your database – it’s been a wonderful starting point for our fundraising!” Along with our experienced funding advisers, who are dedicated to helping groups in the area look for funding, and advise on the often tricky business of applying for money, CIB’s extensive funding advice service can help make the difference in reaching your goals. If you would like to register for the database, please call 01380 729279 or visit the website at www.cibsouthandwest.org.uk.

New Guidance on CRB Checks for Volunteers Published
The Office of the Third Sector has published guidance to help organisations that use volunteers to be clear about when they do and don’t need to carry out Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks on volunteers. The guidance will help cut unnecessary red tape and responds to concerns voiced by the voluntary sector that potential volunteers can be put off if they are asked to undergo a CRB check without good reason. You can access the guidance and find further information on the OTS website.

Planning Obligations (often called Section 106 agreements) are an important part of the planning system. Youth Volunteering for Your Organisation
Volunteer Centre Swindon is working in partnership with BTCV to host vinvolved teams in Wiltshire and Swindon to deliver a three year funded youth volunteering project through the new youth charity v. My role as Youth Volunteer Development Manager is to work with organisations to develop new opportunities for young people aged 16-25 across Wiltshire to get involved with. My colleagues Lisa Bailey and Laura Penn from BTCV will be recruiting young people from across the County to fill them! I am especially keen to hear from organisations that have, or would like to develop opportunities that are especially suitable for this age group. I can help with any issues you may have to consider when deciding to involve young volunteers. If you register your volunteer requirements with v , they will be posted on to www.do-it.org.uk which is the national volunteering website, as well as on www.vinspired.com which is a volunteering website specifically aimed at 16 to 25 year olds. They will also be advertised directly to young people from around the County whilst visiting Wiltshire’s Schools, Colleges, work places and special events. Please get in touch! Emma Johnson emma@wiltshirevolunteers.org.uk.
