Volunteer Centre North Wiltshire - Volunteers' Week
Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) is the UK's annual celebration of the work volunteers do. During the Week events are held across the country to recognise, reward and recruit volunteers. www.volunteersweek.org.uk is a web site which provides a range of tools and resources to help you celebrate Volunteers' Week and the contribution that your volunteers have made. Including Volunteers' Week certificates which are a great way to say 'thank you' to volunteers, you can personalise with the name of a volunteer and your organisation. On Tuesday 3rd June a Volunteer Centre worker will be at the Buttercross in Chippenham promoting volunteering and those opportunities that are currently registered with us. If you would like to register any volunteering opportunities please email volunteer@cvsnw.org.uk.

CRB Checks on Charity Trustees
Charities that work with children or vulnerable adults must now provide the Charity Commission with a signed declaration that they have carried out Criminal Record Bureau checks on prospective trustees. Details are on the Charity Commission website. It is also against the law for anyone to act as a trustee of a "children's charity" as defined in the Protection of Children Act 1999 unless a CRB check has been carried out. Trustees who fail to carry out such checks on new trustees or staff could themselves be in breach of their duty of care to the charity.
