Happy New Year - Welcome to the 2008 E-Bulletins!

Welcome to the first e-bulletin of 2008! We hope you enjoy reading the fortnightly bulletins and find them useful. CVS will soon be sending you some information in the post about our Spring 2008 training and events programme, keep your eye out for it! Joint Strategic Needs Assessment Workshop – 25th January

Find out how you can become involved and how the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment will benefit us all. Wiltshire PCT and the County Council are holding a workshop on The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) - a new Government initiative that will support joint working between different organisations in order to commission Health and Social Care services and work efficiently and effectively in Wiltshire. Date:  Friday 25th January 2008. Time: 9.30am - 2.00pm. Venue: St.John’s Parish Centre, 2 Wingfield Road, Trowbridge, BA14 9AE. Or phone 01380 733808.  A document providing further information about the JSNA, can be found here and contains links to further background information, such as 'The Commissioning Framework for Health and Wellbeing', which established the need for the JSNA to be undertaken.

 

STOP PRESS! - Voluntary Sector Forum - STOP PRESS!

The third Voluntary Sector Forum for Wiltshire is in the pipeline so make sure you put it in your diary today! The event is planned for Thursday 14th February and as before it will be a lunchtime meeting with the opportunity for networking over a buffet lunch. This time the Forum will take place in Devizes, in line with requests to rotate the venue. The ‘hot topic’ is the future of partnership working in Wiltshire and how we in the Voluntary and Community Sector would like to see this develop. The Forum will also give you a flavour of how this works in Bath and North East Somerset. Don’t miss this opportunity to have your say! Two as New Billy Bookcases from Ikea - FREE to Good Group!

Ulrika at CVS has two tall bookcases that she would like to offer to any group who would like them, they are both in as new condition and approximately 60cm wide and 200cm tall, and very similar to the one shown here. Community SOS - With GWR FM

Does your local playground need a makeover? Does your playgroup need some new toys? Does your scout and brownies hut need re-decorating? We've teamed up with Consumer Direct to help you. We're looking for a project to get our teeth into which will make a real difference to the community you live in. How to Enter: If you know of a deserving, local, community project then you've got until Friday 18th January to tell us all about it. Tell us what needs doing, who it would help and what a difference it would make - using the form here. How to Help: Even if you don't know of anything that needs doing you may still be able get involved. Once we've made our decision we'll be calling on local business and local people to help us complete the project (have you seen our DIY skills!). We'll gather together all you skillful and generous people and complete the project on Saturday 26th January and Sunday 27th January (start praying for fine weather). Click here to find out more.

 

Save Energy and Save Money, Invite an Energy Advisor to Come and Talk to Your Group!
Would you like a trained home energy advisor to come and talk to you your group about saving energy and money in the home? Wiltshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre is based at the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and offers free impartial advice on saving energy. Our aim is to reduce carbon emissions to help mitigate against climate change whilst saving you money and making your home more comfortable to live in. Girls Get Fit and Kick Off 2008...

With women's 5 a side indoor football at the Olympiad, Chippenham. Taking place every Saturday between 26th January and 1st March from 2 - 4pm. Your first session is free and then it is £2 per session. Enter as a group of friends, family members, work colleagues or neighbours all you need is 5 of you to play! The aim of the project is to provide fun, active, sociable indoor football for women over the age of 18. No prior experience necessary! A Development Day for the Children’s Voluntary Sector

This is a FREE Development Day  organised by the Children’s Workforce Learning Network (CWLN) for practitioners and volunteers in the South West region, for the Voluntary Sector only. As well as a series of speakers, you will have the chance to attend two of the following workshops: Online Learning, Involving Fathers, Safeguarding Children on the Internet or Participation Workshop. Wiltshire Forum of Community Area Partnerships - January Conference

I would like to take this opportunity to announce the date of our January 2008 Conference, at the Corn Exchange in Devizes.  Our event will begin with registration from 9.30am and run until 1.00pm followed by a networking lunch.  The morning will begin with a brief AGM followed by an update on the future role of Community Area Partnerships. We have pleasure in confirming that Steve Clare, Assistant Director – South, from the Development Trusts Association will address the conference and will be talking about community owned assets.  Championing a community driven approach is one of Steve’s passions.
