Keep Healthy and Well with CVS!

The new Wellbeing Centre, based at the CVS offices in 3-4 New Road, has been growing from strength to strength! When the Centre was launched in mid-May, there were just two dedicated practitioners based there. They were soon joined by another two in June and, as of the beginning of September, there are now eight people practicing at the Centre, thus greatly expanding the range of treatments and therapies available. The vision of the Centre is to make complementary therapies available and affordable to all. It can offer evening and weekend appointments, and has full disabled access and facilities.  All practitioners are fully qualified and insured, and extremely committed to the Centre’s vision. Reflexology For All Ages - Can Reflexology Help You?

Reflexology has its roots in Ancient Egypt, India and China. In 1913, Dr William Fitzgerald introduced it to the West, as a “zone therapy”. In the 1930’s, Eunice Ingham developed this zone therapy into what is known as reflexology. Reflexology is a holistic therapy that uses specialised thumb and finger/s pressure to reflex points on the feet and hands. It works by stimulating the body’s immune system, releasing blocked energies and unwanted toxins and stimulates the circulation encouraging the body to heal naturally. Reflexology aims to release stress and tension through relaxation.  It also aims to have a positive effect on the individual as a whole: body, mind and spirit promoting self-responsibility, homeostasis, thus creating balance and harmony. For any enquiries, contact Antonieta, on 07764 161 160. I have worked as a reflexologist for a number of years; qualified through the Holistic School of Reflexology and am a member of the AoR.  I am pleased to be offering appointments at the Wellbeing Centre in Chippenham on alternate Thursdays, 9am to 1pm, commencing mid September. (Price reductions for those working in the Voluntary and Community Sector).

Neighbourhood Teams Taking Shape

STAFF who will deliver Neighbourhood Teams to improve patient care across Wiltshire are drawing up final plans to ensure the scheme is a success. Detailed discussions with staff in recent weeks have confirmed that the vast majority of staff are enthusiastic about the development of Neighbourhood Teams and have appreciated the opportunity to explore in detail the part they might play in taking forward the new way of working. Neighbourhood Teams will radically change the way patients receive care, delivering individual care by professionals in patients’ own homes rather than in hospital. The new teams provide a range of services, including rapid response to patients’ urgent needs, rehabilitation services, and nursing and therapy services as part of a planned care package. Working patterns currently vary across the county with some teams already providing cover into the evening. Click here to read the full press release.
