More Therapies Available at the Wellbeing Centre!
We are over the moon with the amount of interest being shown in our new Wellbeing Centre! We have another new therapist, Carol Jones, joining us on Tuesday afternoons from June 26th. Carol will be offering Reiki, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Holistic Facial and Body Massage. There is a description of each of these treatments later in this news item. The Wellbeing Centre aims to encourage people in the voluntary and community sector to look after their health and wellbeing through a range of affordable complementary therapies and treatments. The practitioners working at the centre have the shared vision of reaching those who can least afford treatments at many of the private practices in the area, so they offer significantly discounted rates for people either working in the Voluntary Sector or volunteering in the community. Click here to read the full article. If you’d like to find out more you can look at our website www.wellbeing-centre.org.uk. You are also very welcome to speak to any of the therapists, without obligation, to find out more about their treatments and any special offers available. Reminder: Improvement Works Start at Borough
Parade Car Park - Chippenham
Work began 18th June and continues for the next 10
weeks. The work will see a reorganisation of the car park with a better route
for cars entering and leaving the car park and a revised layout to provide
better accessibility and define safer pedestrian routes through the site. The
work will see the creation of a two-lane exit for vehicles leaving the car park
and allow motorists additional options to recirculate within the car park.
Currently there is one lane for use by traffic leaving the car park and either
turning left or right into Gladstone Road. The new layout will see the creation
of two lanes, one turning left and one turning right.

NCVO has joined with the TUC, CSV, Volunteering England and NAVCA to call for a new national bank holiday in October to celebrate and promote community activity and involvement. The bank holiday would be used to encourage people to volunteer and get involved with community groups and activities and provide an opportunity for the sector to publicise its work and develop new activities to engage their communities. Refugee Week Blog - What Do You Think?
In partnership with Refugee Week, we have asked a number of guest editors to contribute to a blog in the lead up to Refugee Week to talk about their encounters of, experiences of, and thoughts on refugees and asylum. As Refugee Week is a celebration of the contribution of refugees to the UK through a programme of arts, cultural and educational events, our first guest editor is an artist - Margareta Kern - who explores whether labels such as 'refugee art' or refugee artist' are a help or hindrance. http://refugeecouncil.typepad.com/refugeeweek_blog. Please feel free to add your own comment to this piece (just click on 'comments' at the end of Margareta's piece) - what are your own thoughts or experiences on this subject?
