Keep Yours Onions Fresh! - Wiltshire Wood Recycling
Most of you will be aware that Wiltshire Wood Recycling collects wood that would otherwise be taken to land fill. What you may not know is that they can produce quality goods to sell to the public. At our Corsham Community Lunch last week Derek Quinn from WWR brought along a set of stacking trays/racks to store vegetables/fruit etc made entirely from donated wood. It was very impressive and a reasonable price too. They will soon be making bird tables and other items so give Derek or Ed a call on 01249 783499 or email wwr@btinternet.com for more information.

A Stronger Local Voice
A Stronger Local Voice sets out the Government's plans for the future of patient and public involvement in health and social care. These plans include the establishment of Local Involvement Networks (LINks), which will replace patient forums. LINks will work with existing voluntary and community sector groups, as well as interested individuals to promote public and community influence in health and social care. The package of plans is designed to promote the importance of user and public involvement at all levels of the health and social care system, and to create a system which enables more people to become involved and have their voices heard. Chief Executives Announced for New Primary Care Trusts in the South West
Chief Executives for new Primary Care Trusts in the South West have been announced. They will lead new Primary Care Trusts from 1 October 2006. The new Primary Care Trusts will play a major role in improving the health of their population and delivering services that meet the personal needs of local people. On 16 May 2006 the Department of Health announced the new shape of Primary Care Trusts across England. In the South West, this resulted in our Primary Care Trusts reducing from 32 in number to 14. These changes will ensure that new Primary Care Trusts are more closely aligned with the boundaries of Local Authorities that provide social care, and this will allow us to develop closer working with Local Authorities. The new Chief Executive for Wiltshire is Jeff James. For more details please click here.

Consultation on A Sustainable Strategy for Wiltshire and the long list of LAA Outcomes
An opportunity to comment on the revised framework for the Sustainable Strategy for Wiltshire, and the long list of Local Area Agreement Outcomes. The draft revised framework will form the basis of the Sustainable Strategy for Wiltshire, and the Wiltshire Strategic Board (WiSB) would like to give you the opportunity to comment. The Sustainable Strategy for Wiltshire is being revised so that it can provide a robust basis for joint working and action. It will inform the development of the County’s first Local Area Agreement (LAA) with Government, which is due to be signed in March 2007. The Strategy will also focus our effort to seek external funds to support Wiltshire-wide priorities. Following responses received from the first consultation process in the spring, the draft has been substantially re-written. The consultation period will run for eight weeks and will finish on 21 November 2006 (this is the minimum period under the Wiltshire Compact, but will allow the consultation results to influence the LAA within its tight timeframe). Click here for the consultation letter, and click here for the consultation document.

GRANTNET – Funding Search Facility
In June 2006 we reminded groups across Wiltshire that there was now a Grantnet search facility available for Wiltshire, hosted through a Wiltshire County Council licence. This enabled a basic search facility to be undertaken in relation to a project to identify potential funding sources. Access to the free Grantnet funding search was obtained through to the Wiltshire & Swindon Intelligence Network site through www.intelligencenetwork.org.uk. During July there has been increased usage of the search. We would like to remind you again that this search facility exists. Go to www.intelligencenetwork.org.uk and select the tab onto the ‘Funding button’ and go to ‘Funding Search’ and then ‘Click to search for funds’. The window below will open up and enable you, once registered, to undertake a search in relation to your project.
Wiltshire Scrapstore and Resource Centre
Who are we? We are a Wiltshire based charity whose main aim is to promote learning through creativity by making various low cost resources available to the community. These resources include a scrapstore, craft shop, library, hire service, training, and Accucut service. What is a scrapstore? A scrapstore is often part of a resource centre like ours. There are various scrapstores based around the country each servicing a particular community area. We cover Wiltshire and the surrounding area. What sort of items are available? We have a warehouse full of treasures (the Scrapstore) - members fill a sack for a donation of £5.00, or a carrier bag for a donation of £2.00. Scrap is donated by businesses and is anything that would normally go into landfill but is safe and clean for children and young people to use in creative activities. We have an exciting new range of training and workshops session, visit our website at www.wiltsplay.org.uk and click on Training.
